It was a double win for the Magma Structures team at the recent IMechE Engineering Excellence awards. The team won not only the Outstanding Project of the Year award for the engineering design and manufacture of the world’s tallest carbon composite masts but the company was also awarded the Overall Engineering Excellence award at the black tie event held in Winchester.
The awards, organised by the Wessex region of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, celebrated engineering talent from across Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight.
The Outstanding Project of the Year was awarded to Magma Structures for the manufacture of the world’s tallest carbon composite masts which were recently delivered and installed on the massive sailing Superyacht ‘A’.
Nick Schulkins, Chair of the Wessex Region, commented: “The Wessex Region is full of hardworking, dynamic and innovative engineers, and these awards have given them the chance to have their stories heard. With each of the winners receiving a profile piece in Professional Engineers Magazine, it’s a real opportunity to showcase the region’s engineering excellence.”
