Magma rail project at NCC Bristol

Unlocking Innovation Scheme – Composites In Rail held at the National Composites Centre in Bristol. Magma Structures and Camille Seurat from ELG Carbon Fibre were invited to present at this key rail industry event. 

The presentation gave an overview of carbon fibre composite bogie design and manufacturing challenges, in order to deliver significant weight savings and substantial reductions to track wear for the rail industry.

Magma Structures and ELG carbon composite bogieThis revolutionary new carriage bogie design uses recycled carbon fibre from ELG Carbon Fibre Ltd for the structure.

The design also includes the integration of real time load monitoring systems within the bogie frame.

The invite only event, hosted by the Rail Industry Association, also included other major rail industry names such as Bombardier, Network Rail and WMG.
